Which Berlin district is pedaling its way to the bike victory?

By Johannes Malinowski

Five districts have bike fever!

Anyone who will soon be pedaling in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Lichtenberg, Reinickendorf and Mitte is not only doing something for their health. The districts take part in the nationwide climate tour.

The idea: The district that covers the most kilometers on a bike wins.

The organizers are the Ecological Traffic Club (VCD) and the fahrRad campaign. From May 15, 2023, all young people up to the age of 18 in schools, youth and leisure facilities and their families are called upon to collect as many kilometers as possible by bike for the 2023 climate tour.

The campaign is intended to sensitize young people to climate protection and ensure that the largest possible amount of harmful CO2 gases is saved.

“Doing something good for health and the climate at the same time, getting from A to B quickly in everyday life and experiencing our beautiful district by bike – all good reasons to take part,” says Mitte Mayor Stefanie Remlinger (52, Greens). “We are happy about the participation and are excited to see which district will win the race.”

The promotion runs until August 31st. The winner is to be solemnly announced in the Rotes Rathaus.

Would you like to cycle along? As a group or as an individual, those who are interested can apply www.klima-tour.de register and enter the kilometers driven.
