A gap that becomes even wider when it comes to informationthe context in which the #100experts project is located. Among sports professionals worldwide, the news focuses on women only 4 percent. When you turn pro, 14 percent of sports news stories are about female protagonists, 86 percent about men. But I’m not almost never consulted as experts” has explained Monia Azzalini researcher at the Pavia Observatory. The new database, which already collects over 50 profiles, ranges from professionals from the academic world, associations, federations, sports and former athletes.

#100experts is also an exhibition

Women and work, a complicated relationship: more than half would like to change jobs

The dictatorship of the “beautiful and good”

In Italy the imbalance regarding women in the media is even more marked .Women of sport have only 3 percent visibility versus 97 percent for men. “AND the gap persists in terms of quality» he added Paola Abbiezzi who directs the Master Communicating sport of the Catholic University of Milan. When the spotlight is on a woman, the conversation too often slips up how she is dressed, family management, physical appearance, instead of enhancing the technical performance. The binomial “Beautiful and good” is slow to break.
