Historical experience tour from Gistel to Bruges

During the ‘Way of the Sisters’ you follow in the footsteps of the Benedictine sisters who fled from the Protestant Beggars. Along the way, an experience guide, information board or podcast will teach you a little more about the history of the sisters. Small plays will also be staged. As a reference to the tragic death of Saint Godelieve, all walkers receive a scarf, which should also strengthen the group feeling during the tour.

Flemish Minister of Tourism Zuhal Demir also walks the last 5 kilometers. “The tragic story of Sint-Godelieve, who died due to partner violence, is unfortunately still very topical today,” says the minister.

Depending on the distance, the registration fee fluctuates between 5 and 20 euros. The proceeds will go to the community of volunteers who will soon be staying at the abbey.
