Meta launches Facebook News in France

After being launched in the United States, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom, it is France’s turn to benefit from Facebook News, the news feed designed by Meta and reserved for journalistic content. Gradually, the tool will be deployed and should be available for all French users by May.

What is Facebook News? How to use it ? How can we access it ?

Facebook News will be accessible via a tab in the Facebook application or on the website. It will suffice to configure its settings in order to take advantage of it. From then on, you’ll have access to the feature at the top or bottom of your app, between your profile and notifications.

An independent team of experienced journalists selects the most relevant content in partnership with Media Services, the AFP subsidiary specializing in verifying content and its credibility. As part of Meta’s ongoing commitment to journalism and content creation, this new tab gives people a dedicated space to find the stories that matter most to them, while ensuring that original media content benefits wider distribution across the countryannounces Meta.

More than a hundred media will be partners of Facebook News, thanks to a collaboration with the Alliance de Presse d’Information Générale (APIG). Thus, national daily newspapers (Figaro, 20 Minutes, Le Parisien-Aujourd’hui en France, La Croix, Les Échos, Le Journal du Dimanche, etc.), local daily newspapers (La Dépêche du Midi, La Provence, Le Dauphiné Libéré, Le Progrès, La Voix du Nord, Nice-Matin, Sud Ouest, Le Télégramme, etc.), or more specialized media (L’Équipe, Capital, Geo, Gala, Femme Actuelle) offer their articles in the service.

The American company has been negotiating with French press publishers since 2019 so that they can be at the heart of the content offered by Facebook News. The objective is to offera plurality of trustworthy and reliable content, which has an impact on the lives of users and those around themin the words of Meta.
