Seven Sisters final sets record: best opening since 2007 | show

The eighth and final part in the popular Seven Sistersseries by writer Lucinda Riley achieved the best release figures for a new book since 2007 on Thursday. From the last part, Atlas – The Story Of Pa Salt, about 100,000 copies went over the counter on Thursday.

The last time this milestone was achieved within one day was in 2007 when the last part of Harry Potter came out, The Deathly Hallows. “The way in which the sales figures are measured cannot be completely compared, and we do not have good information further back in time to make a comparison,” said a spokesman for CPNB. ,,But The Deathly Hallows went over that 100,000 copies on the first day. It is certain that there has not been another book since then that has brought this about.”

The first edition of Atlas amounted to 350,000 copies, which is almost unique in Dutch book history. Many bookstores opened their doors at midnight to give fans the chance to pre-order a copy right away.

Notes

The series is about a group of sisters who come together in their parental home after the death of their father. After his death, they all received a mysterious letter about their origins. Riley had promised her fans an eighth book, in which she would answer the question who the mysterious adoptive father Pa Salt is.

Before her death in June 2021, the writer completed important passages of the eighth book. She also made detailed notes about the plot. It was her express wish that in the event of her death, her eldest son Harry Whittaker would complete the series.
