Mattie Valk thinks that Mia & Dion’s performance during the semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest was not good. “I don’t want to be too sour, but it wasn’t very impressive, was it?”
The musical couple Mia & Dion have finished their performance at the Eurovision Song Contest. They stranded in the semi-finals, because the viewers at home did not think they were good enough. In the run-up to the song festival, they sang very out of tune several times, but according to commentators Cornald Maas and Jan Smit, this was not the case now.
Cornald’s clique
Johan Derksen notes in Today Inside that Cornald and Jan are not objective, because they were part of the committee that chose Mia & Dion. “They sit there and say it went great. ‘Flawless and crystal clear’, but the strange thing is: those two were on the committee that determined that these two are going to sing.”
He continues: “It’s laughable, it’s a clique and they just sent two high school students who have never sung before and who are singing for the first time.”
Matt responds
Mattie Valk, the big star of Qmusic, certainly disagrees with Cornald and Jan. “Just a minute guys – I don’t want to be very negative right away – but it wasn’t very good, was it? The commentators Jan and Cornald said it was flawless, but it really wasn’t, was it? It wasn’t very impressive, or am I being sour?”
According to him, Mia & Dion are just not that good. “I would also have liked to see it differently, but it was not very impactful, was it? Shouldn’t we be that honest?”
Not impressive
It was much too thin, Mattie thinks. “Guys, I don’t want to be too sour, but it wasn’t very impressive, was it? Shouldn’t we be that honest? It was a bit thin, it wasn’t very imposing.”
He continues: “We know what a terrible situation we come from in terms of vocals, we know the background to it, but if you look at this on an empty stomach without knowing the whole history of those two, you see a performance that is just a bit mwa.”
Angela slaughters
Angela de Jong thinks that the whole mess should be turned upside down. “Maybe time for a trip to the hearing specialist when you get back to Volendam, Jan. Or take off your ‘We van WC Duck’ glasses and brush them thoroughly”, she sneered AD.
And what do we do with mentor Duncan Laurence? “Giving America a one-way ticket with his affectionate accent!”
