McArthurGlen opens new luxury shopping center west of Paris

McArthurGlen, developer of designer outlet malls, opened just such a shopping center near Paris a few days ago. Just 45 minutes from the Arc de Triomphe, the shopping destination is intended as a day trip destination for fashion enthusiasts in and around the fashion capital and is said to attract “millions of fashionistas and fans of the French capital” annually.

The McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Paris-Giverny combines fashion, art and gastronomy and offers luxury, premium and lifestyle brands in around 100 outlet stores.

Among them are Missoni, Moncler, Philipp Plein, Pucci, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney and Tod’s in the luxury sector as well as the premium and activewear brands Adidas, Aigle, Claudie Pierlot, Coach, Furla, Gant, Karl Lagerfeld , Lacoste, L’Oréal, Maje, Puma, Sandro, Tommy Hilfiger, Under Armor and Victoria’s Secret.

Boss and Nike have already signed and will soon open their stores at the center, as will Dolce & Gabbana.

The new outlet center has been on McArthurGlen’s agenda for almost 30 years and is, according to Joan Jove, the group’s co-CEO, its “most ambitious project to date”.

arts and crafts

Arts and crafts have also been thought of: to represent the history of Normandy crafts, the center will open its own showroom called Gvrny at the end of the month, designed by designer Mathieu Lehanneur.

It will house 130 artisans and creatives – from ceramic art to wood carving – most of whom come directly from Normandy. Gvrny was developed in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the Eure Chamber of Crafts (CMA) and is operated in partnership with French retailer Arteum.

The outlet center will also house permanent art installations, such as the artworks “Moonlight – Horse at Water” by British artist Nic Fiddian-Green and “Penelope Waiting” by French sculptor Emile-Antoine Bourdelle. There is also a gallery space by sculptor expert Sladmore, as well as works by local talent such as Seb Toussaint, curated by Giverny’s Impressionist Museum.

The latest opening is the Group’s 25th site in eight countries and fourth in France after sites in Troyes, Roubaix and Provence. In Germany there are three locations in Neumünster, Berlin and Ochtrup.
