An assault took place this afternoon in the parking lot at IKEA in Haarlem. Because a firearm may have been involved, the police came to the store in Waardepolder with many units. One man has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the assault.
Around 4 p.m., the police received a report of an assault possibly involving a firearm. A police spokesman said: “Security has called the police at the request of the victim of the assault.”
No firearm
Once at the scene of the incident, one male suspect was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the assault. Police spokesman: “There may be a firearm, but we did not find it with the suspect.”
The police spokesman also said that several police units, including an air ambulance, were present as a precaution. “Because there may have been a firearm, everyone wore a bulletproof vest. Fortunately, it turned out afterwards that this was not necessary.”
