Sabalenka, seeded second in Madrid, may meet the world number 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek, in the final. He will face Veronika Kudermetova from Russia in the other semifinal tonight at 9.30 pm.
For Sabalenka it is the fifth final of 2023. She previously won the Adelaide tournament and the Australian Open. She lost the finals to Indian Wells and Stuttgart. On the gravel in the German city, Swiatek dominated her in April.
