1/2 Yuna and Tommy.
Tommy Roussen from Den Bosch had a wonderful day in court in Den Bosch on Wednesday. His ex took their daughter Yuna to Lithuania four years ago, but the judge ruled this Wednesday that she should never have done so. She was sentenced to three months in prison and a fine.
Tommy arrived at the court quite emotional. He had to wait two weeks after the hearing for the verdict of the judge. With a camera team from Hart van Nederland in his wake and several camera crews in the courtroom, he had enough attention for his case.
He fought like a lion for the past four years to see his daughter again and be a father to her again. And the judge agreed with him and that led to even more emotions. Together with his current wife, second daughter and his mother, he was happy and relieved.
In addition to the three-month prison sentence, Simona also received another seventeen months probation. She will have to serve it if she does not cooperate in restoring the relationship between father and daughter. “This statement is good. My ex Simona should go to jail for what she did. Due to the high suspended sentence, she has to cooperate,” he said afterwards.
“Now my ex has to cooperate.”
Tommy is now married again and with his new wife he has a daughter of ten months. His wife, his mother and his lawyer congratulated and hugged Tommy on this milestone.
For four years, Bosschenaar Roussen has not been allowed to be a father to his daughter Yuna. The girl is now six years old and lives with her mother Simona in Lithuania. The two of them went there for a holiday in 2019, because Simona no longer liked the relationship. But they never came back.
Before Tommy finally stood before the court in Den Bosch, he had already tried everything to see his daughter Yuna. “I have conducted numerous procedures, both in Lithuania and in the Netherlands, without results,” he said two weeks ago. “And with this judgment from the judge, I can ask the judge for a new visitation arrangement in Lithuania.”
“Parents who are in such a situation deserve more support.”
Tommy wants to use his ex’s time in prison to reconnect with his daughter. After that there must be a good arrangement. “It is nice that the judge has imposed a substantial suspended prison sentence and a fine. Then my ex has to cooperate.”
After the verdict, Tommy couldn’t stop talking about the verdict that worked out so well for him. Again he made a tour of all camera crews, including those of RTL Boulevard, where John van den Heuvel personally advocated for Roussen. He even went to Lithuania with Tommy for his program Kidnapped to track down his daughter and his ex.
After this statement in Den Bosch, Tommy is not ready yet. “I will continue my case in Lithuania and I am also in contact with MPs about my case. Because parents in such a situation deserve more support. Lithuania is actually in the European Union and should have cooperated better.”
