Excerpts from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
The first trailer of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, produced by Amazon Prime, has been released. A series that Jeff Bezos hopes will create an in-house version of Game of Thrones.
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. In the course of the series, all the important stories of the second age of Middle-earth are to be brought together. From the forging of the rings and the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron to the legend of Númenor and the last alliance of elves and humans.
The storyline does not come directly from JRR Tolkien’s pen, but is only inspired by the stories of the “Lord of the Rings” author. A statement from Amazon on the series said: “Viewers will be transported back to an era when great powers rose and fell, when unlikely heroes were tested, when hope hung in the balance and… as one of the greatest villains that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen, threatened to engulf the whole world in darkness.”

No expense was spared in the implementation of the series. The budget for the first season alone was $465 million. Beginning September 2, 2022, one episode of the first season will be released weekly. Another four seasons are already planned.
