So many Zoetermeer residents received a ribbon this year

Mayor Michel Bezuijen had a busy morning: fifteen Zoetermeer residents received a royal decoration during the annual ribbon shower. You can read here which fellow citizens are involved.

Traditionally, the ribbons are awarded every year on the day before King’s Day. This time fifteen Zoetermeer residents have been put in the spotlight in the Stadstheater.

Thousands of ribbons

This year, 2,850 people throughout the Netherlands were surprised with a ribbon. The vast majority of them receive one because of their voluntary work, the rest receive it because of ‘special merits in paid employment’. There are more men (64 percent) than women (36 percent) who receive a ribbon.

To all Zoetermeerers with a ribbon: congratulations!
