F1 Baku LIVE, free practice 1 and qualifying for pole | The direct

how sprinting works

How will the new Sprint, which makes its debut in 2023 this weekend, work? That’s how.
The Friday a free practice session is run plus the traditional qualifying session with Q1, Q2 and Q3 which assign the pole position and the starting grid for Sunday’s GP.
The Saturday a short-form qualifying session is held (Q1 12 minutes, Q2 10 minutes, Q3 8 minutes) called Sprint Shootout which establishes the starting grid of the Sprint which will be held on Saturday and assigns the points like last year to the first 8 (8 to the first up to 1 to the eighth classified).
Sunday it is the day of the traditional GP.
