French fashion federation postpones 2024 couture shows due to Olympics

The 2024 French couture shows will be held a week earlier than usual to make room for the Paris Olympics. This was announced by the French fashion association Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode on Saturday. Fashion week will now run from June 24th to June 27th, 2024.

Although the Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024 and the Paralympics from August 28 to September 8, 2024, there will be a period before and after the Games when certain events will not be possible to use venues for the shows. It’s about venues, traffic and safety,” Pascal Morand, executive president of FHCM, told publication Vogue Business.

These are not the only news from the fashion world around the Olympic Games in Paris, writes Vogue Business: The luxury group LVMH is in talks to sponsor the games. And French sports brand Le Coq Sportif has appointed Stéphane Ashpool, founder of designer boutique and brand Pigalle Paris, as creative director and chief designer to dress the athletes of the French teams.
