Homeowners of seven villages in North Drenthe will soon be able to receive a maximum of ten thousand euros for the improvement or sustainability of their home. However, the villages have not been added to the depreciation scheme for homeowners in the gas extraction region. That can be figured out a letter from Prime Minister Rutte and State Secretary Vijlbrief van Mijnbouw to the House of Representatives.

The cabinet is expanding the scheme once more, because there is a lot of misunderstanding among residents whose homes fall just outside the subsidy area. According to the government, the ‘enclaves or exclaves that are illogical for residents’ will disappear.

Until now, the subsidy scheme on the Drenthe side of the provincial border only applied to Spijkerboor. The scheme is now being extended to Zuidlaarderveen, Nieuw-Annerveen, Oud-Annerveen, Eexterveenschekanaal, Annerveenschekanaal, Nieuwediep and Bareveld. 21 postcodes in the province of Groningen will also be added to the scheme.

With the money, owners of homes can receive money for the purchase of solar panels or insulation, but the subsidy may also be used for, for example, a new bathroom or the installation of a dormer window. A condition is that the house has been delivered before 1 January 2016.
