Joshua Kimmich is increasingly being criticized in Bayern’s sporting descent. Ex-professional Mario Basler now went to court with the national player. He also did not leave good hair to Thomas Müller and CEO Oliver Kahn.
“Kimmich is completely overrated,” Basler said in his podcast “Basler ballert” with the Bayern professional.
The top scorer in the 1994/1995 Bundesliga season added: “Kimmich isn’t where he should be on the pitch. You saw that at the weekend, grade 6! He’s overrated with his performance over the past few weeks. As a leading player, I expect something else.”
The fact that he was substituted in the 75th minute of the 1:3 defeat against 1. FC Mainz 05 on the previous day is a clear indication that coach Thomas Tuchel is not satisfied with Kimmich’s performance either. “It’s a sign for the team,” Basler said.
Thomas Müller was also substituted around 15 minutes before the final whistle. “If a player doesn’t perform well, no matter what his name is, then he can no longer play. And if Müller isn’t good enough – and Thomas Tuchel may think so – it doesn’t matter what he has achieved,” said Basler and emphasized: “It’s no longer enough in big world football.”
Kahn announcement at FC Bayern “neither fish nor meat”
Basler also found critical words for CEO Oliver Kahn. According to the 54-year-old, the statements made by the former goalkeeper after the bankruptcy in Mainz were far too nice.
“These are statements that you can also get rid of in kindergarten. It’s neither fish nor meat,” said Basler, who added: “I can only remember Uli Hoeneß, who then goes into the dressing room after a game like this and is completely on his nerves loses and freaks out completely.”
“Who was the team that wanted to become German champions?” Kahn asked ironically after the 1: 3 and answered himself: “It was definitely not ours.” Each individual must “take a look at themselves and ask themselves whether this is really enough to achieve the goals”.
