Tottenham Hotspur’s suspended sporting director Paratici resigns

Restructure Spurs

Fabio Paratici has resigned from his post as sporting director at English giants Tottenham Hotspur. As the “Spurs” reported, the Italian made the decision after his appeal against the 30-month ban imposed by the Italian association and extended by FIFA to the entire football world failed.

Tottenham boss Daniel Levy said: “It’s been a stressful time for Fabio and his family. We wanted to make sure we were following due process. Fabio is a man who lives and breathes football – we wish him all the best.” Levy emphasized that Tottenham are restructuring the management of the football business anyway. Most recently, Scott Munn was named chief football officer, “who will oversee all departments. We will continue to strengthen our football departments in the coming months.”

Paratici’s ex-club Juventus got back the previously deducted 15 points in an appeal from the highest sports court of Italy’s National Olympic Committee (Coni), the penalty is suspended. The case is now back with the Italian federation FIGC, a final judgment is not expected before the end of May or beginning of June.

In addition to Paratici, however, the bans against former Juventus managers Andrea Agnelli (two years), Federico Cherubini (16 months) and Maurizio Arrivabene (two years) were also confirmed. Bans against a number of other officials, on the other hand – like the point deduction – have to be renegotiated.
