RB Leipzig: André Silva is thinking about leaving – hit Frankfurt almost twice as often

Advisor Mendes explores the market

André Silva is the only player in the RB Leipzig squad to play all 40 competitive games this season. The 27-year-old Portuguese was up front for much of the year and started 28 games. However, the performances shown did not always meet expectations, which is why further cooperation beyond the summer is not certain.

A report of “Picture” According to Silva, he is dealing with a departure from RB after two years. In the summer of 2021, the Saxons paid 23 million euros to Eintracht Frankfurt and gave the attacker a contract until 2026. His consulting agency Gestifute, headed by Jorge Mendes, is currently busy exploring the market and looking around for potential new employers, they say.

From a purely sporting point of view, the club side should not completely reject a sale, Silva in the Leipzig jersey is too ineffective. At his station in Frankfurt, the right footer scored every 121 minutes (45 goals in 71 games), at RB it is 219 minutes per goal (26 in 91 games). Purely in relation to the Bundesliga, it even takes more than twice as long (108 minutes in Frankfurt, 247 in Leipzig). Most recently, the 53-time national player celebrated his own goal in the 6-1 win over Schalke 04 on January 24, since then he has been waiting for a goal in 14 competitive games.

Both in the cup game against Borussia Dortmund (2-0) and in the league against Hertha BSC (1-0), Silva recently had to sit on the bench. This threatens him for the rest of the season, not least because of the return of the injured Dani Olmo (24) and Christopher Nkunku (25). In the interim update in March, Silva’s market value fell for the sixth time in a row, this time from 24 to 20 million euros. RB would at least call up that amount in the event of a transfer in the summer, the “Bild” suspects.
