Iltalehti reported earlier today how the Court of Appeal rejected Sofia Bélorfin accusation of money laundering, regarding the so-called Katiska tangle. However, the court upheld the media personality’s conviction for a drug offence.

In the money laundering case, Bélorf was initially accused of smuggling cash from Finland to Spain. The money hidden in the suitcase was found in the bag registered on Bélorf’s travel ticket. According to the prosecutors, it is money earned from the sale of narcotics.

Bélorf’s former partner Niko Ranta-aho however, has told the court that he hid the money in his female friend’s suitcase without her knowledge. Now Bélorf’s involvement in the money laundering ring has been rejected.

Iltalehti contacted the lawyer who represented Bélorfi Paul Perovuowho says he is satisfied with the court’s decision.

– Sofia finally got her share of justice.

Perovuo emphasizes how much publicity and coverage of the matter has been quite mentally taxing for Bélorf.

– He is not responsible for that coverage. This has never been a big deal for Sofia.

Cocaine in Turku

The drug offense for which the sentence remained in force occurred in Ruisrock in 2019. At that time, Bélorf was using cocaine and also handed the drug to another person. Although the quantities were not large, the court considered cocaine to be a very dangerous drug, so Bélorf was sentenced to a 40-day fine. It makes his income 1920 euros.

According to Perovuo, it is a minor crime considering the media attention the case has received.

– This is a matter of a 40-day fine, where a person should not be stigmatized very badly. It’s a trivial matter.

Iltalehti could not reach Bélorf to comment on the matter so far. However, he took a stand on the matter on his Instagram account, where he posted a picture of a dove of peace and heart emojis in the Stories section.
