Chateau Meiland producer ensures the biggest TV flop of the year

Chateau Meiland is the big reality hit of SBS 6, but not everything that its makers touch turns into gold. The reality series Goud Zuid is even the biggest TV flop of the year.

After Today Inside, it is the most important program of SBS 6: Chateau Meiland. The makers of this, Vincent TV Produkties, deliver even more successes, such as the programs with Frank Visser, Steenrijk Straatarm and VriendenLoterij Miljonairs. But not everything they touch there turns into gold: Gold South is a megaflop.

Relegation to Net5

The reality series Goud Zuid, about six girlfriends from the poignant Oud-Zuid in Amsterdam who were slaughtered by Angela de Jong, was actually supposed to start in November. The program had been given a spot on prime time at SBS 6, Talpa’s flagship. But suddenly there was a postponement and a relegation to Net5.

They were not at all happy with the end result at Talpa, the juice channel reported Juice Channel at the time. “The producer had said that a lot would happen, but the women are very disappointing. The plan now is to broadcast it on Net5 because it is so disappointing.”

Flop of the year

The juice channel was right: the premiere of Goud Zuid was last Wednesday on the late evening of Net5, only at 10:30 p.m. The premiere was a megaflop with 36,000 viewers, but guess what? It can be even lower. Yesterday, 25 thousand people watched, representing a shocking market share of only 0.9 percent.

The producer of Chateau Meiland has officially delivered the TV flop of the year; the chance is nil that another program will be below this. “The score of Goud Zuid is really embarrassing,” says viewing figures expert Tina Nijkamp.

Avastars from Net5

Tina speaks to her ratings juice channel of ‘the Avastars of Net5’. “Made by the makers of Chateau Meiland. Phew, what a flop. The largest so far of 2023 in terms of absolute viewership. Even National Geographic scored more viewers at the same time, namely 27 thousand.”

Net5 also disappointed in prime time. The comeback of Erik van der Hoff, who presented Het Blok for years, is also a flop. His show De Grote Muziekquiz attracted only 205 thousand viewers (4 percent). By the way, there are more than Avastars had.
