Coach Tomas Oral failed at the second division soccer team SV Sandhausen and has to vacate his chair at the bottom of the table after about seven weeks. On Easter Monday, the Baden-Württemberger announced the separation from the 49-year-old.
On an interim basis, assistant coaches Gerhard Kleppinger and Oscar Corrochano will take over training and preparation for the upcoming away game at 1. FC Magdeburg. On Sunday, SVS lost 2-0 to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, with Oral being sent to the stands for complaining in the final stages.
“We had hoped that with Tomas Oral as the new coach, we would set the decisive impulse for a successful relegation battle. After only two points from the last six games, including the indisputable home appearances against St. Pauli and Greuther Fürth, we have to recognize that this unfortunately didn’t succeed,” said SVS President Jürgen Machmeier.
Managing Director Volker Piegsa added: “Unfortunately, he did not succeed in initiating a lasting trend reversal. The release is therefore unavoidable in the interest of the association.” The SVS is currently six points behind the relegation place and eight points less than 15th place in the last place in the table.
