That was just missing: Alba fears for one of his best! On Easter Sunday, the German champions defended their lead in the Bundesliga with a 91:78 against BG Göttingen. But without Christ Koumadje (26).
The 2.24 meter giant was missing due to knee problems. It’s unclear where the pain is coming from. The center had already played just under three minutes at Panathinaikos Athens (88:84) on Friday. Then his knee knocked him out.
The game against Göttingen followed Koumadje only as a spectator on the sidelines with teammates Tamir Blatt (25) and Marcus Eriksson (29), who were also injured.
For Berlin, the game continues in Chemnitz on Tuesday (7 p.m.). Whether with or without the giant from Chad is open. Manager Marco Baldi (60): “He still has knee pain, so we can’t say if he’s there. The decision will be made at short notice.”
The strain on the albatross is currently very high. Three games per week are standard. There were 16 in the past three weeks. Baldi: “The game plan is on the limit. With some players there is zero freshness, the week is now getting hairy again.”
In Chemnitz, the Berliners want to get their eighth Bundesliga win in a row. After that, the last Euroleague game of the season is on the program: Villeurbanne comes to Berlin on Thursday (7 p.m.).
On Sunday (3 p.m.) you have to win for first place in the league in Hamburg. Alba hopes for Koumadje.
