Dedication to grandfather
Heung-min Son made history again with a stunning opening goal in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. The 30-year-old South Korean has become the first Asian player to reach that mark with his 100th goal (in 184 games) in the English Premier League. Previously, only 33 footballers in the history of the competition (introduced in 1992) were able to reach that number.
“I hope that all Asian players, especially in South Korea, will look at this achievement and believe that they can do it too,” said Son, who wanted to “set a good example” to help the young people. I want them to believe that an Asian player can do great things in the Premier League.” He dedicated his jubilee goal to his late grandfather.
In addition to Son, Harry Kane (29) also scored for Spurs against Brighton. With his 206th Premier League goal in 312 appearances, he is approaching second place in the all-time top scorer list. There is only two more goals, ex-pro Wayne Rooney.
