Norwegian footballer Erling Haaland is the new Nike brand ambassador.
The top striker, who moved to Manchester City from the German Bundesliga from Borussia Dortmund to England, joins the “next generation of the Nike elite football team”, the US sports goods retailer announced on Friday. This also includes other well-known players such as Kylian Mbappé, Leah Williamson and Kevin De Bruyne.
Haaland is currently one of the best footballers in the world and has already won several competitions, such as the DFB Cup 20/21 with Borussia Dortmund. In the same season he was also the top scorer in the Champions League.
Fittingly, Nike is also the outfitter of the Norwegian national football team. On the other hand, the sports giant does not benefit from the jersey sales in the leagues – Borussia Dortmund and his current employer are supported by the sports goods manufacturer Puma from Herzogenaurach.
