After the icy broadcast on Friday evening, after Monday evening’s bleak broadcast, it erupted behind the scenes of Today Inside: a spicy argument between Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp. According to Wilfred Genee, at one point there was a loud shout: “Who do you think you are!”

Merel worried

Merel Ek thinks that a day after that argument, so last night, there was still a lot of tension in the air at VI. She tells that in the online section In The Hallwayswhich was recorded immediately after yesterday’s broadcast.

She tells Wilfred: “We can talk about politics. We can also talk about what just happened. I find this what is happening here at the table just harder to interpret than what is happening in politics.”

Wilfred: “It was a lot of fun tonight.”

Merel: “Yes. Haha. But really… No, right? Don’t know.”

Huge tension

Wilfred: “It was a nice party. Rene turned 62. But you had the feeling that there was tension again?”

Merel: “Yes, I had the feeling that there was enormous tension. I don’t think I’m the only one.”

Wilfred: “Well, yes, I have to be honest: I had it on Friday, but not so much now.”

Searching for sensation: “But the atmosphere made you uncomfortable tonight, Merel?”

Merel: “Well, at the beginning a bit, that I thought: where is this going, dude?”

Shoot in all directions

Wilfred: “It came a bit… I arrived and then a team from Shownieuws asked: ‘What about the negotiations? Johan just said you’re out.’ I thought, okay, news to me all this again! No, it’s going all over the place a bit, isn’t it, at the moment. But tonight I think was fine. It was fun too, wasn’t it?”

Then out of the blue he shouts again: ‘Who do you think you are!’ haha. But I think today was good again.”

Curious

Merel hopes it will all work out. “Okay, I’m very curious where it ends. 44 broadcasts left.”

Wilfred: “Maybe we should take a look, because I assume that Johan and René are having a nice drink again. It’s fun again, can’t be any other way. ‘Who do you think you are!’”
