Last year, citizens reported half as many tick bites. In 2022, 4,918 tick bites on individuals were reported in Belgium: 2,977 in Flanders, 1,877 in Wallonia and 64 in Brussels. In 2021, 9,935 tick bites were recorded. This sharp drop may be due, among other things, to the extreme drought in the spring and summer of that year, health institute Sciensano reported on Wednesday.
