Formula 1: Expert takes apart Ferrari

The former Formula 1 driver and today’s TV expert Timo Glock sharply criticized the once again weakening Scuderia Ferrari after the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

“For me, Ferrari is the absolute disappointment of the start of the season. In terms of pace, nothing comes together with the reds,” wrote Glock in his “Sky” column.

Ferrari’s supposed frontman Charles Leclerc comes off particularly badly in the 41-year-old’s rating. “Charles Leclerc shows that after a bad qualifying, there is a high risk of being involved in an accident in the fray,” Glock said.

Sainz had “in the meantime had good pace” and “showed strong overtaking manoeuvres,” explained the German, looking at Leclerc’s teammates. “The penalty at the end was unfortunate but justified.”

“It was definitely not the start of the season that Ferrari was hoping for, that we were hoping for. Now it’s up to Frederic Vasseur to quickly set a new direction and get the team back on track,” said Glock, who worked between 2004 and 2004 In 2012 he started 91 Formula 1 races and had at least achieved three podium places.

More excitement in Formula 1? Timo Glock skeptical

The F1 expert harbors little hope in view of the tension in the premier class of motorsport.

“In my opinion, the fact that the field in Melbourne moved closer together was due to the track characteristics. I was hoping that Mercedes in particular would have come closer. You have to see whether they can keep the pace constant,” said Glock.

At the upcoming race weekend in Azerbaijan (April 28th to 30th), however, he again sees clear advantages for Red Bull. “In Baku there are more curves, long straights, where Red Bull’s DRS effect comes into play I think Red Bull will again put a bigger gap between themselves and the competition in Baku.”
