Tibo Vyvey makes winning comeback in light single sculls

The 22-year-old from Bruges, the defending champion in Piediluco, completed the 2,000 meters in 7:06.07. He narrowly beat the Italian Matteo Tonelli (7:06.39). Ireland’s Hugh Moore (7:10.94) completed the podium. Vyvey celebrated his comeback on the international scene in Italy after a long rehabilitation as a result of a cerebral thrombosis that struck him in July last year during the World Cup for U23, also in Italy.

Aaron Andries and Tristan Vandenbussche rowed to silver in the double sculls on Saturday. The world and European champions in the reserves only had to tolerate the Italians Luca Rambaldi and Matteo Sartori. Marlon Colpaert and Niels Van Zandweghe, in principle a light double scull, came third in the B-final, good for eleventh place in the final standings. The double fours with Tim Brys, Gaston Mercier, Ward Lemmelijn and Ruben Claeys ended in their final behind the only two opponents, European champions Italy and the Netherlands.
