Bayern and Alba get nothing

The winning streak of basketball Bundesliga club Alba Berlin has broken. On the 31st match day of the EuroLeague, the German champions were beaten by the Spanish top team Baskonia Vitoria 87:93 (48:44) after winning six competitive games in a row.

On Tuesday evening, the Berliners were still in the lead a good three minutes before the end of the game. Too many fouls and an excellent free-throw quota for the Spaniards sealed the 22nd defeat.

Bayern Munich had previously suffered their fourth defeat in a row. The German cup winner lost 76:86 (43:48) at Panathinaikos Athens, but remains in 15th place in the table ahead of the Greeks due to the better point ratio. Reaching the knockout phase was already a long way off before the game.

After a strong initial phase, Munich lost the thread offensively, especially at the beginning of the second quarter, as they did on Sunday in the league game at the Löwen Braunschweig (74:63). It stayed that way after the break, eleven meager points were scored in the third period. The rearing up in the final quarter was not enough.

Bayern’s top scorer was national player Nick Weiler-Babb with twelve points.
