Billy Joel performed at one of his regular gigs at Madison Square Garden (“MSG” for short) in New York on Sunday evening (March 26). This time, the 73-year-old surprise guest welcomed ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons on stage to perform “La Grange” and “Tush” with him and his band.

The track was sung by Joel band member Mike Delguidice. Traditionally, bassist Dusty Hill always intoned it at ZZ Top. However, Hill died in July 2021 and was replaced by Elwood Francis. By the way, Gibbons and ZZ Top will be touring throughout the year. Among other things, she accompanies Lynyrd Skynyrd in the summer of 2023.

Billy Joel at MSG: Special Guests and Tributes

Since 2014, Billy Joel has sold more than 1.5 million tickets to his Madison Square Garden performances. This was reported by the magazine “Spin”. He has also welcomed special guests like Olivia Rodrigo, Bruce Springsteen and Miley Cyrus. Joel also likes to use his stage to honor deceased colleagues – most recently when Jeff Beck died of bacterial meningitis in January.

Billy Joel’s latest album is called Live at Yankee Stadium.
