For the first time in over 12 years, five of the top 6 albums on the Billboard 200 are female

This week, five out of six album positions on the American Billboard chart feature works by women artists – it is the first time in over 12 years (last December 11, 2010) that the top 6 have all five women guided albums included, as reported by Billboard.

However, the top spot is headed by one man: Morgan Wallen is number 1 with ONE THING AT A TIME.
The female K-pop ensemble TWICE debuts at number 2 in the current charts with READY TO BE. Miley Cyrus’ new work ENDLESS SUMMER VACATION debuts at #3. Three former #1 hits follow at #4-6: SZA’s SOS, Karol G’s MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO and Taylor Swift’s MIDNIGHTS.
A record dated March 1, 1997. At that time, female artists even occupied eight places in the top ten:
- LeAnn Rimes – UNCHAINED MELODY/THE EARLY YEARS
- Erykah Badu – BADIUZM
- No Doubt – TRAGIC KINGDOM (led by Gwen Stefani)
