Bayern professional falls out
National coach Hansi Flick has to accept the next injury-related absence after defender Armel Bella-Kotchap (21) from FC Southampton. Jamal Musiala (20) from FC Bayern left the training camp. “We all hoped that Jamal would be fit because he has unique qualities,” said Flick on Monday. He still has to do without his new planned offensive team of Musiala and Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz (19).
The offensive star has torn a muscle fiber in his thigh and is out for the time being. In Munich’s 1-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, Musiala came on for Thomas Müller (33) at half-time. For the most valuable German footballer (100 million euros market value), no player will be nominated for the DFB squad. Flick subsequently called ex-Schalke player Malick Thiaw (21; AC Milan) to replace Bella-Kotchap.
Germany will play Peru on March 25 and Belgium three days later under new coach Domenico Tedesco. It is still unclear how long Musiala will be out. After the international break, FC Bayern will enter the crucial weeks with the Bundesliga top game against BVB, the cup quarterfinals against SC Freiburg and the Champions League quarterfinals against Manchester City.
