Simon Leviev, who has gained notoriety as the “Tinder swindler” since the release of the Netflix documentary of the same name, is finding it increasingly difficult to find new victims for his scam on dating apps.
A spokesman for Match Group, which operates the dating apps OkCupid, Hinge, PlentyofFish, OurTime, Meetic, Pairs and Match, among others, told TMZ that Leviev has been blocked on all of the group’s platforms.
Simon Leviev has disregarded Tinder’s terms of use in the past, which is why a block on the partner platforms is justified, the spokesman said. Simon Leviev has not been able to open an account on Tinder for a long time under his name or one of his countless aliases.
The new documentary about the scammer shows Leviev flaunting his lavish lifestyle on Tinder to win the trust and affection of countless women. He later persuaded them to take out loans for him, only to break off contact and make off with the women’s money.
The film accuses Leviev of using one woman’s money to impress the next woman, similar to a Ponzi scheme. In total, he is said to have embezzled up to $10 million from his victims.
The Israeli, who posed as the son of a diamond tycoon, was arrested in 2019 and extradited to the Israeli authorities. However, he was released there five months after his conviction.
The Match Group spokesman said Leviev would not be running profiles on any of the apps at this time. If he tried anyway, his profiles would be blocked immediately.
The Tinder Swindler will be streaming on Netflix on February 2nd.
