“Go vote: it’s your democratic duty.” You hear this call again in every election. Yet there are plenty of people who don’t make it to the polling station. For example, because they have no confidence that anything will actually happen to their voice. Does our vote matter?

Research among the NH-Nieuwspanel shows that the vast majority will vote for the water board elections. Yet a large group would rather not go to the polls for it. 52% of the panel would prefer experts to be appointed for water management rather than the population electing a board themselves.

No fewer than 89% of the respondents indicated that they would vote for the Provincial Council today. The indirect vote for the Senate is the most important reason for 36% of voters to choose a particular party.
