Ski jumper Katharina Althaus climbed to second place overall before the final day of the Raw Air Tour in Norway.
The three-time world champion from Planica took second place in qualifying for the final competition on Wednesday (4:30 p.m. / Eurosport) in Lillehammer.
After ten of twelve jumps, the woman from Oberstdorf has 1173.0 points and only has the clearly leading Slovenian Ema Klinec (1210.6) ahead of her.
Althaus flew 129.0 m on her favorite hill, on which she has clinched five of her 14 World Cup victories so far, and was level with Klinec behind world champion Alexandria Loutitt from Canada.
Team World Champion Selina Freitag (Aue) followed in fourth place and also made up a place in the overall standings, with 1168.2 points she is now third ahead of Norway’s Anna Odine Ström (1163.0). The other DSV starters also qualified for the final competition.
For the women, the Norway tour ends differently than for the men on Wednesday, since the women’s premiere of ski flying in Vikersund no longer counts for the overall ranking. There the best 15 jumpers of the Raw Air can participate.
The winner of the tour receives prize money of 40,000 euros, the runner-up another 15,000 euros.
