Two people from Brabant managed to reach the final of the television program Wie Is De Mol? Tech journalist Daniël Verlaan from Roosendaal and ex-top swimmer Ranomi Kromowidjojo from Waalre. Together with program maker Jurre Geluk, they were the only three candidates who could be the Mole. For weeks, millions of viewers were kept busy with that one question: who is the Mole 2023? The TV program was closed from the garden of Soestdijk Palace. It was season 23, which says a lot about the popularity of the program.
Wie is de Mol took place in South Africa for the second time in history. Normally, the grand finale is in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark, but due to extra interest, a larger and more central location was chosen.

The front garden of the palace was full of ‘molots’, as the mega fans of the program are called. They saw that Jurre Geluk was the mole this year. Not a real Brabant Mole. Daniel Verlaan did win the season because he was the only one who guessed correctly that Jurre was de Mol.
Verlaan took home the pot of € 11,650. He plans to use the money to set up a fund for young investigative journalists and to take his fellow candidates out to dinner.
