The last night of Love with Pierfrancesco Favino: the review by Paolo Mereghetti

LLAST NIGHT OF LOVE
Type: between crime and noir
Director: Andrew DiStefano. With Pierfrancesco Favino, Linda Caridi, Antonio Gerardi, Francesco Di Leva, Fifi Wang, Carlo Gallo, Fabrizio Rocchi

Franco Amore is a police officer whose friends are waiting at home for a surprise party on the last day of work: has not killed anyone in thirty-five years of service trying to never break the rules.

Only occasionally acted as an escort to his wife’s cousin and his not exactly mirrored trades, thus managing to round off a not very generous salary. He also does it on the last day of work, but For once, things don’t go as he planned and what was supposed to be a farewell to the uniform to celebrate at home risks becoming a nightmare.

Pierfrancesco Favino in Andrea Di Stefano’s detective story.

For his first feature film in Italy after directing Benicio del Toro and Clive Owen in Hollywood, Andrea Di Stefano uses the detective story to tell a Milan far from any patternwhich the first spectacular aerial shot shifts from the glamorous lights of the skyscrapers to the yellowed ones of the suburbs.

As the protagonist is in the rules of the genre, to whom Pierfrancesco Favino lends a worn and tired face, he will find out who the people with whom he shared his life really are, ready to betray or push to do so. Up to an ending that will surprise many.
For those who want to rediscover the taste of the action films of the past.
