The top four at the front

Taubitz with the best nerves
With track conditions getting worse and worse due to the onset of rain, many riders struggled in the second run and some of them fell far behind. Only Taubitz and Geisenberger were able to stay at the top. In return, some of the poorly placed in the first run were able to make up good positions.
The Austrian Madeleine Egle made it with the fastest time in the second run from position 17 to the podium behind the German duo (+ 0.256 sec).
Anna Berreiter also had to get on the track unusually early after a mistake in the first run in the final. There she was able to move up from 14th to fourth (+ 0.275 sec) advance.
Eitberger crashes shortly before the goal
Dajana Eitberger did not finish. She was eleventh at halftime, but did not finish the second run. After a mistake in the transition between turns 13 and 14, she took the boards hard with her and fell off the sled. That could ultimately have cost her the ticket to the Winter Games.
“I am very happy with the women who have shown very consistent races. This is the most important thing when it comes to preparing for the Olympics“, said national coach Norbert Loch. On Monday the 59-year-old wants to announce his nominations.
There are still three World Cup stations on the racing calendar before the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing (February 4th to 20th). Next weekend the entourage will travel to Sigulda, Latvia (January 8/9), before another home race will take place in Oberhof (January 15/16). The dress rehearsal for the Olympics will take place in St. Moritz, Switzerland (January 22nd / 23rd).
