“Lto princess Lilibet Diana was baptized on Friday March 3rd by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Reverend John Taylor.” So announced the event a spokesman for Harry and Meghan. A very intimate ceremony, with less than thirty guests – including Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland – in the gardens of the Sussex villa in Montecito, California. But of the rest of the Royal not even the shadow.
Harry and Meghan snubbed by Carlo and William
According to rumors leaked from Montecito, Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, had also invited Carlo and Camilla, William and Kate, but no Royal has made the long journey to attend the event. Evidently, despite having themselves been invited to the Coronation of King Charles on May 6th, the allegations recently launched on Netflix memoirs, interviews and docuseries by the Sussexes have not yet been forgiven at court.
Harry and Meghan’s chosen godfather is a loyal friend
Lots of music, the songs of a gospel choir and even dancing: at the afternoon reception that followed the short ceremony, little Archie would go wild on the dance floor with his little sister. Also present was the godfather of the child, Tyler Perry, the American actor who offered the Sussexes the use of one of his villas in California when Harry and Meghan decided to leave Canada in 2020. There is also a godmother , but the name has not yet been revealed.
A consolation for Harry and Meghan Markle
For the first time, the Sussexes were able to officially use the titles of prince and princess awarded by right to Archie, 3 years, and Lilibet, 21 months, last September, to the death of Queen Elizabeth and the ascension to the throne of grandfather Charles. Buckingham Palace, however, has not yet updated the Royal website: the two children still appear on it with the more commoner titles of Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
Her Royal Highness Princess Lilibet
Under a Royal rule established by King George V in 1917, with Charles on the throne, Harry’s two sons can now also have the title of Royal Highness, but they will have to decide for themselves, as adults, whether to adopt it or not. For now, the Sussexes will limit themselves to using the titles of prince and princess for their children only on formal occasions, and not in everyday life.
