Sport 2000 opens flagships in Mauritius and Madagascar

The trading association Sport 2000, which belongs to the ANWR Group, has opened several flagships in Mauritius.

For this, the company has brought in the HV Group for support, which is particularly active in the region around the islands of Madagascar and Mauritius. The first store, which has opened its doors since January, is in the centrally located Tribeca Mall Mauritius, Sport 2000 announced on Wednesday. The store in the shopping center offers over 30,000 products from more than 20 brands on a sales area of 1,000 square meters.

“The new Sport 2000 flagship store is a key project in sports retail in Mauritius,” said Roupesh Hematlal, CEO of HV Holdings Ltd. “The store has the optimal space to place brands and products perfectly.”

Two other stores that have been welcoming customers since February are located in Tamarin on the west coast of the island and in Plaisance in the south-east of Mauritius. A store in Madagascar is also planned for May. Other locations are to follow. “The market in Mauritius and Madagascar is developing dynamically. We therefore look forward to further expansion with our partner HV Holdings,” said Margit Gosau, CEO of Sport 2000 International.

“Thanks to the outstanding retail expertise of HV, we have already succeeded in realizing our ‘Sport 2000 Retail’ concept 100 percent with the first store and enabling people to have a sophisticated shopping experience in high-quality sports retail,” says Gosau. “With the new cooperation, we are further expanding our international brand presence and are also positioning our brand in the southern hemisphere in a state-of-the-art manner.”

As part of its expansion into Mauritius, Sport 2000 is also partnering with the Reef Conservation Foundation to “take a first step towards protecting the region’s reefs,” according to Hematlal.

Sport 2000 International is Europe’s second largest trade organization for independent sports retailers with more than 3,500 stores in 25 countries. The company generated total sales of 5.3 billion euros in 2021.
