Came on loan from Union Berlin
FC Hansa Rostock will have to tackle the upcoming tasks without central defender Rick van Drongelen. As the second division team announced on Monday, the 24-year-old Dutchman tore a lateral ligament in his right ankle during the home defeat against Karlsruher SC (0:2). Van Drongelen will be out for weeks, but surgery is not necessary. Hansa said it was unlikely that the ex-HSV professional would return to the field in March.
Van Drongelen moved to Rostock in the summer on loan from Union Berlin, where he remained without any assignments. Since then, the defensive man has played 15 games for the Hanseatic League. Most recently, van Drongelen, who is contractually bound to Union until 2025, was put in defense. After 23 match days, Hansa Rostock is in 14th place in the table, three points ahead of the relegation place.
