Germans only in the outsider role
For Germany, Jonas Dobler and Albert Kuchler dare to approach the marathon discipline. However, neither of them can be expected to place in the front. However, both cross-country skiers were also part of the relay that sensationally won a bronze medal at this year’s World Championships. For the first time since the 2011 World Championships in Oslo, they won a World Championship medal, when there was also bronze in the relay. Such a result can unleash unimagined powers. Who knows? Perhaps there will be the next sensation among the German cross-country skiers.

Who could make life difficult for the Norwegians?
Above all, the Swede William Poromaa has a good chance of winning a medal. However, he has fallen short of his own expectations in the past two weeks. With his “middle finger scandal” he also made more headlines off the track than on it. The Italian Federico Pellegrino showed at the Tour de Ski that he can be dangerous not only in freestyle, but also in the classic style.

Norway in the role of favourites
For cross-country skiers, the 50 km mass start in classic style is the last competition at the Noric World Ski Championships. In the marathon discipline, the Norwegian men are the big favorites again. So far there have been five medal decisions and in all disciplines a Norwegian or the entire team has been at the top. The all-rounder Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo and his teammate Paal Golberg are hot contenders for the title. But Didrik Tønseth, Sjur Røthe and Emil Iversen should not be underestimated on a good day either. Iversen won the gold medal in the 50 km mass start race at the 2021 Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf.
