SV Sandhausen is deep in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga. Thanks to a goal in the last minute, however, they still managed to get a point against Holstein Kiel.
Joker Franck Evina (90+5) scored the much acclaimed Sandhäuser goal. He only came into the game on Saturday (March 4th, 2023) in the 70th minute of the game. Thus, Sandhausen and Kiel separated in the Kurpfalz with 1:1 (0:0). The guests from the north took the lead shortly after the restart through Hauke Wahl (47th).
Through the counter, Sandhausen swapped places with the new tail light Jahn Regensburg. The SSV lost in the parallel game against Fortuna Dusseldorf (0:1). Sandhausen and Regensburg are now tied (20 points) and both have a goal difference of -17. However, the SVS scored two more goals, which is why the team of the new coach Thomas Oral is now in front of Regensburg.

It was an intense start, with the guests from the north getting on better. Sandhausen needed some start-up time. It took over half an hour for the hosts to gain slight advantages in the duels.
And David Kinsombi then got the first really good opportunity for the SVS. He failed in the fray after a free kick from Sandhäuser to Kiel goalkeeper Tim Schreiber, who saved brilliantly with one hand (33rd). Before that, Fabian Reese had already checked the strength of the crossbar on the Holstein side (26th).
Kiel only defends, Drewes saves a penalty
In the second half, however, the guests also scored: central defender Wahl used the Sandhäuser disorder after an (initially) blocked throw-in and was there in the danger zone from a short distance.
Playfully, Kiel didn’t make too much steam, instead only the sand houses ran up again and again, especially in the final phase. But Kiel defended in a disciplined manner.
What was to be decisive for Sandhausen: goalkeeper Patrick Drewes saved a penalty from Reese (87th). Immanuel Höhn had previously hit Alexander Mühling with his high leg. Because Drewes prevented the decision, Sandhausen was later able to celebrate Evina’s morale-boosting goal, which replaced Marcel Ritzmaier.

SV Sandhausen will be visiting Kaiserslautern under floodlights on the 24th match day (Friday, 6:30 p.m.). And Holstein Kiel welcomes SSV Jahn Regensburg (Sunday, 1.30 p.m.).
