The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has demanded a prison sentence of two years for attempted manslaughter against a 43-year-old man from Hoogeveen. Half of this should be conditional. The Public Prosecution Service accuses the man of throwing his rival down from one high during a fight on the gallery on November 22.
The 31-year-old victim fell nearly four meters. The injuries were limited to abrasions and bruises. The man was a neighbor, who was also in court. According to the Public Prosecution Service, he had started the quarrel by appearing at the door of the forties with a knife and tapping a window there. He was sentenced to 30 days in prison, of which 17 days were conditionally suspended. The man has been in prison for 13 days and does not have to go back to prison.
The argument was about too much noise from the night before. The tormented neighbor wanted to get a story the next morning. The conversation escalated into screaming and the men physically assaulted each other. Neighbors later told the police: “It was unbelievable, but the man with the hat was lifted over the railing by the other man and thrown down”.
The police came immediately and saw the youngest suspect lying in the grass. His elderly neighbor looked down over the balustrade. According to the forties, he was almost pushed off the balcony and was able to turn away just in time. This caused his attacker to fall over the railing under his own weight. The prosecutor did not believe this. Witnesses reported that the victim fell head over heels. “This could have been fatal,” the prosecutor said.
The verdict is in two weeks.
