Emergency services were turned out last night for a car in the water along the Stipdonk in Lierop. The car turned out to be stolen in Helmond earlier that evening. Firefighters, police and a medical team arrived at the scene for the car to be watered.

The fire service searched the water for the driver, but he was not found. The police also searched the area, but that search also did not lead to the driver.

Several sources report that the car was stolen in Helmond that evening under threat of a weapon. Officers who investigated the car in Lierop wore bulletproof vests.
