Thanks to mobile phone tracking, the thief was caught!
A teenager stole a man’s cell phone in Prenzlauer Berg using the so-called Antanz trick. However, the perpetrator was unlucky: the owner had activated the location function on his iPhone 13 and was thus able to find the location.
A hunt across the city began, in which the experienced investigators of the Operational Group Youth Violence (OGJ) were also involved.
At the Gotzkowsky Bridge in Moabit, the officers noticed a young man with a backpack who matched the description of the perpetrator and the location. Access!

The mobile phone thief tried to get rid of his booty and threw it into the Spree. But here, too, the perpetrator was unlucky: the backpack with the loot didn’t sink, but floated on the Spree.
The fire brigade provided a lifeline and so the backpack could be pulled towards the shore.
An officer fished the loot out with a hook. The police found the mobile phone and other stolen mobile phones and stolen goods in the backpack.
