The Berlinale starts with a large portion of glamour, fans who are looking forward to their idols. And debates upon debates!

For example, I found the opening film “She Came To Me” with Anne Hathaway wonderfully romantic, my colleague Sebastian Bauer thinks it’s mediocre.

Like thousands of film junkies, we are currently discussing untold storylines and dazzling performances by stars like Kristen Stewart or Sean Penn.

Cologne has the carnival, Berlin has the film festival. And to convey more political messages than a Shrove Monday procession, sorry, dear Rhinelanders!

Many people’s hearts rose when the Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani recalled the fall of the Wall at the jury’s press conference and said: “Berlin stands for freedom.” That cannot be taken for granted, the city fought for it.

The Berlinale will show many films that tell of war, misery, violence or catastrophes. Not really a blockbuster, but the interest of the audience is huge, numerous cinema fans travel from abroad. You will see unforgettable canvas paintings.

In a vibrant city that wants to move the world. And we Berliners are right in the middle of it, the next ten days will be great!
