A man died on Monday evening in the outskirts of Schijf. He was cutting wood in the woods with a chainsaw when another tree accidentally fell on him. The police speak of a fatal accident.
The accident happened around six o’clock in the woods along the Antwerpsebaan. The tree that fell was not worked by the man, but fell to the ground on its own.
Several emergency services, including the fire brigade and an air ambulance, were present. The man was resuscitated, but to no avail. He died on the spot. Because it is a fatal accident, the police are not investigating further.
