If contraindications for possession of weapons are identified, an extraordinary medical examination is introduced

The owner of a weapon, if he has a serious illness, runs the risk of losing his permit for it. The Ministry of Health ordered to cancel the medical certificates ahead of schedule if contraindications are identified and report this to the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Gun owners who are found to have contraindication-related illnesses during hospital treatment or medical examinations will have their medical permits for gun possession revoked. The corresponding order of the Ministry of Health published on the official Internet portal of legal information, it comes into force on March 1, 2022.

“If a citizen who owns a weapon is found during medical examinations or medical examinations or when providing him with medical care for diseases in which possession of a weapon is contraindicated, the medical organization notifies the owner of the weapon and draws up a message on the existence of grounds for an extraordinary medical examination <... >,” the document says.

The order prescribes in such cases to cancel the current medical certificate for the right to own weapons, information about this will be sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
