Honda unveils 3 new e-bikes for China inspired by its classic scooters

Honda has unveiled a set of new and intriguing e-bikes which, at least for the moment, are destined only for China. The three models are basically electrified reinterpretations of the already well-known Cub, Dax and Zoomer, scooters that have marked different eras in the history of the Japanese giant, but they are not exactly electric scooters: they are e-bikes created “tailor-made” for the Chinese market. All three are in fact equipped with the classic pedals for the transmission of motion and can reach a maximum speed of 25 km/h, requirements explicitly required by local legislation to be classified as “electric bicycles” and thus access a rather profitable segment of the huge market in that country. Retaining largely the names of their petrol-powered predecessors, the newcomers were christened the Cub e:, Dax e: and Zoomer e:. Their stated goal is the audience of the very young, who aim to attract the strengths of the already established design of three iconic models in their own way. For the moment, not much is known at a technical level, nor are there any plans regarding their possible landing in other territories. The first full-electric Honda model to land in Europe will instead be the previously announced Em1 e, a no-frills city scooter expected for the summer.
